Phoenix's performance was nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece. Oscar gold. I represent the true Batman "nerds" out there and recognize it as a culture within itself. As such, the portrayal of iconic heroes and villains is important, and this was a gem. Simply put, the character was done justice. To think there would ever be another Ledger-Level performance wasn't even a feasible thought for me, but I was surely put to shame and made to be a believer. A realistic look into a beaten and battered soul. You dive into the rabbit hole with him and form a strange sense of empathy. It's thought provoking, it's scary, it's raw, it's sadistic and it was a real look at the severity of mental health, poverty, and social/class inequality, amongst numerous other crushing realities of everyday life. The faint of heart, steer clear. The "nerds", DC got it right this time (even though he's not in the DCEU). To leisure movie goers, enjoy a great film.
