This book isn't going to leave you scratching your head - heck, you may even figure out a plot point or two well in advance - but it doesn't matter. Mexican Gothic is beautifully written and perfectly paced. The characters are comfortable without being stereotypes and the gothic horror genre is eloquently presented. I bought this book without knowing a thing about it and what a pleasant surprise. I can't wait to explore more of the author's work.
