Before you read just know that I’ve been playing a lot of BO4 (and BO3) recently so that’s where my perspective is coming from (specifically multiplayer).
The game feels just like the Beta. So if you didn’t like the beta, then you won’t like the actual game. Very few things have changed so it’s consistent.
To me it doesn’t really feel like a black ops game. It feels like a crossover between a black ops and a modern warfare. It is a bit slower paced than black ops 3 or 4. And the sliding is short and kinda eh. It doesn’t feel like a “black ops slide” to me.
The hit markers, however, have improved in my opinion. SIGNIFICANTLY. The BO4 hit markers were awful and if you only played core it took forever to kill someone while it seemingly took 0.2 seconds to get killed. But with Cold War the kills are more consistent. It doesn’t take as long to kill someone but it’s not stupid quick either like an HC deathmatch would be.
The controls over all don’t feel as fluid to me, but that’s normally how I feel every time I switch to a new COD game.
Personally, my biggest complaint is the lack of challenges. I always follow the challenges for multiplayer because it’s a good way to level up and it’s fun. But Cold War doesn’t have nearly as many challenges as other COD games which is kind of a bummer.
The maps are pretty cool designs. They look realistic and more to scale than past games.
Is it the BEST COD game? No. But is it the worst? Definitely not. I do not think it deserves a 1 Star by any means. But it is a bit overhyped. Again, if you played the beta and didn’t like it, don’t buy it. It won’t feel any different. But if you’re like me and just love investing time into the black ops series and aren’t afraid to adjust a little bit, then I’d totally recommend it.
