one of the best disney films i have ever seen!! the songs were amazing and i loved the lyrics. the story itself was one i haven't seen in disney yet and i hate when people say that "nothing happened in this film" or "i was expecting a movie filled with adventure and action" because thats kinda the whole point of the movie??? encanto is not supposed to about adventure or going on a quest, it's about family and relationship. not all movies need to have action in them for the characters to learn and develop!! this whole film is about generational trauma and older generations cluelessly overburdening their children, mirabel having to go on this huge adventure to save the magic would run the whole theme of the story. maybe instead of saying that it was bland and underdeveloped, actually pay attention to the whole point of the story?? the reason there wasn't much happening was because the directors wanted you to focus on the characters and general theme instead. isabella feeling like she needs to be perfect for her family to bring them pride, luisa being the older sister and having to take care of everything which is accurate in most cases especially with immigrant families (translating, taking care of documents, speaking for the family, etc), mirabel feeling like she's not good enough for her family, bruno leaving the family. encanto is more character driven which i absolutely love!!! lol anyway, loved how we got to see abuela's backstory and the whole scene when she was in the water with mirabel was beautiful. definitely recommend <3
