A middling to bad show at best. Poor lighting choices, uninspired cinematography, overly wrought interpersonal drama in the style of a tween show, and performances by the main cast that are outshone by side characters. This is a dreary adaptation done in terrible style that insults the intelligence of the viewer. Death fake outs abound. Character motivation is either so oversimplified as to not exist, or it truly doesn't exist. It uses ham fisted tropes (while also not embracing the tropes and conventions of the source which serve to ground the story?!) such as, but definitely not limited to, fridging a wife for motivation.
Unless season 2 does a 180, this show isn't worth your time. I wish I had every second I spent watching it back.
