[EDIT, JULY 2020: Damn, season 4a was so great and season 4b was.... not. Yikes. I have lots of conflicted feelings about the show, once again. However, I am hopeful that the show will be renewed, that more QTPOC folks will be hired on the crew, and that the storytelling will improve.] Ugh i love this show SO MUCH. It's definitely had its ups and downs.... Kadena breakup storyline, I'm looking at you.... but I'm so glad I've stuck with it. Season four is AMAZING, the best season so far imo, and it is some of my favorite television, period. I'm so excited for more episodes summer 2020, and I hope there are more seasons to come!! The show does a great job of balancing important, serious topics and interpersonal drama while retaining an overall upbeat, optimistic, fun, inspirational, supportive tone. The cast is incredible and it's wonderful to watch a show where all the characters support each other: women supporting women, men supporting women, and people supporting people!! Working together towards a more inclusive, empowered, loving world! I wish there was more TV like this.... I can't handle heavy dramas, but I like an hour-long TV format and I like shows that have both heart, silliness, and emotional depth. The Bold Type is special like that (and also has a great soundtrack) so I really hope it continues on and on!
