Just wanted to thank you for the segment on The Umpire. Your choice of interviewer and interviewees resulted in a very informative discussion and will be helpful in understanding the process as it evolves. It will be interesting to watch the Chief Justice navigate the shoals that may bring the court into disrepute given the restricted time frame in which his deliberation on best procedures must be taken. Again, thank you for the in-depth discussion.

As a Canadian snowbird following the impeachment process I have found your coverage most informative. However, I am still unaware of the Senate trial procedure as it pertains to the role of the Supreme Court justice. Will your news coverage discuss the activism or passivity of the role? In particular I am assuming the Constitution selected the Chief Justice as someone with legal knowledge about court procedure, evidence presentation, a desire for the fullness of evidence and juror impartiality/non-biased thinking, not merely as a chairperson as the Vice President would have provided. Could the Chief Justice intervene in the discussion of what evidence should be offered and provide direction on the mind-sets of Senators when acting as jurors?
