I loved this for all its creepiness and the overflow of toxic masculinity — and how that can melt away in the face of evil.
This has two brilliant actors — whom I didn’t even know existed despite one of them (Paul Walter Hauser) being on several other shows/movies (like I,Tonya and COBRA Kai). The other, Taron Egerton, is beautiful and chiseled, can play clean or gritty parts — his range in vibes in the show were so convincing. And Hauser nailed the creepy serial killer role by 100. Like gave me the hell-no “ick.”
The premise is based on a true story… Jimmy Keene goes to jail for selling drugs and ends up getting an offer to commute his tenure sentence to time served if he can witness the confession from a known serial killer already behind bars but who may get released on his appeal due to a debatably coerced confession. You will be a passenger on the emotional and physical journey of Keene as he is subjected to hell in more ways than one.
If you like true crime or if you just like suspense… The six episode series will hit your spot. If you watch it, or have watched it already, let me know what you think. It definitely left a lasting imprint on me.
