It many ways this is a kids film, with adult themes. They are the protagonists for sure and you’re absolutely with them all the way. So what’s the genre, horror, thriller? Yes, but it’s so much more. It explores complex relationships, teenage angst and the dysfunctional family. Don’t let that put you off. The 2 hours flies by, the wonderful script perfectly acted. A very well crafted movie.

My word. Is this for real? Could only stomach 10 minutes of this amateur hour(and 50 minute)feature. In short, it’s a poorly acted trope fest with dialogue that appears to have been scripted on the back of a fag packet at a drunken student union freshers ball. I’m being kind!!! Avoid!

At times, the dialogue, acting, plot and editing made this film feel like a spoof. Unfortunately it’s not. I just didn’t care about any of the characters and with no one to root for the films fault’s were magnified. A good example is the scene of the butler meeting the guests at the train station to take them onward to the island. ‘We must make haste’ the butler says, ‘ The journey is a precarious one’! The next shot is of the guests on a large pleasure boat gliding across a mill pond.??? In its favour the film does look handsome and I watched till the end but the pay off didn’t happen.

Woeful! As bad as the two previous sequels. Its a film without a plot. An absolute disappointment. Hard to fathom how this received favourable reviews? The original film is a classic. These sub standard sequels tarnish its legacy.

5 minutes into episode three and the murderers identity and motives seemed so obvious, that I brushed it aside as a red herring. But no. Three Pines is the most unimaginative of mysteries, Alfred Molina is great but it’s all style over substance.

Give up halfway through. Didn’t care about any of the characters, no plot to speak of, embarrassing dialogue, teenybopper soundtrack and incidental music destroys any chance of tension, believability or character development. Otherwise great.
