The show is good. It feels like a proper continuation of the original but I do have some issues. I'm not gonna be like the mindless fan critics that sum it up by calling it "woke". This is just the word bigots love to use without knowing the actual meaning. We get it, you don't like too many minorites or LGBTQ characters. Get over it. This show doesn't even have that so what are they even complaining about? The problem I have is that Deb is now Dexter's spirit guide instead of Harry. I always found Deb to be acceptable in small doses but now she is used too much. She never should have been killed off to begin with. She was good as a side character and a link to Dexter's humanity. She was ruined in season 8 with the weird falling in love with her brother thing and then killed off for no reason. Now all she does is complain and yell at Dexter. She doesn't offer guidance, she's more of a nag.
I also miss seeing Dexter kill a person almost every episode. Four episodes in and he's killed one guy. I get it, small town and he's fighting his urges but the show was about a serial killer. This is something a bit different. I'm still getting used to the slower pace but what I've seen so far is pretty entertaining.
