I can't believe how disappointing this movie is. The story creeps along at snail's pace, adding irrelevant scenes. I can't imagine the Broadway version took as long. The songs are terrific, and the dancing fun, but the story involves, among other things, ,a mother who pimps her daughter into becoming the lover of a naval officer who is considerably older than she. We see this in fuzzy, 'romantic,' sexy scenes. He later dies and appears unblemished as he is given a lovely burial during the height of an air and naval battle. I'm not sure what happens to the girl. The battle scenes are unrealistic. One man falls out of a plane and shouts up to the plane to ask for advice, and they shout back answers. He survives. Two heroes, who are hiding on an island to report Japanese naval, chit chat with their base instead of sending a message and signing off. People sing endlessly into oneanother's faces. I got tired watching Mitzy Gainer and Rosanno Brazzi do that time and again.
