Based on true characters and a biography by Nicholas Dawidoff, this World War II story had such great potential for some tense intrigue, but the film is much too slow paced, ultimately becoming almost uninteresting. It is a well acted feature, with some big names, but it has a "made for TV" feel to it. There's a suggestion that the main character is gay or bi-sexual, which has no basis in fact and has absolutely no bearing on the story...an unnecessary Hollywood insertion. It takes almost half the feature for the set-up phase before any real action occurs. There is a war battle action scene that is soon forgotten. As the dialogue builds to the climax of the story, the main characters simply walk away and we're done. Normally, I really like WW2 action intrigue movies, but this one misses the mark...sad, because it had so much potential.
