Beautiful aesthetics and visuals, and its newness is a breath of fresh air when Disney is so hyperfixated on live action remakes of beloved animated 2000s movies. However, the core themes and story are poor. On a surface level, it's valuable to teach that sometimes you must be the first to extend trust if you want to be trusted. On closer examination in the context of the film, this message comes off as "trust those who betrayed and hurt you without reason to trust them again".

Quite a good TV show with a rather interesting plot and some nice character work and still leaves enough plot holes for future episodes and more story ideas, but could still work on the romance aspects. Season 1 kept romance on the side, not really bringing it up besides possible flirty remarks and occasional scenes every now and then. I can understand that there was a whole world, characters, and plots to set up as well as ‘testing the water’ to see how people will accept this remake. Romance could perhaps be a subplot in season 2 between any of the characters, maybe finally making either Catradora or Glimmadora canon.
