The perspective of 1917 is unique, immersive and compassionate at the same time. From the eyes of Will Schofield we see a cruel, harsh world engulfed in flames yet the slim light of hope still lingers. We feel as Will feels and fear as Will fears, yet that hope of salvation within that darkness drives us to ever next second as it did for Will, till the dawn breaks that darkness.

If only the storyline were not as so confusing, it would have been one of the greatest movies in the filmography history. Sadly, the screenwriters took dialogues straight out of context from the book and made the whole plot indecipherable for anyone without prior knowledge. It is as much confusing for those who knew, because development and climax built up in the book are nonexistent in the movie. It's very sloppy and poorly executed, with little to none character development.
