Went with my wife, who's not that into sci-fi and, if honest, didn't want to see it. Visually the film was stunning. What ruined it for me was excessively loud background music that, in parts, drowned out the dialogue to the extent that, if you weren't familiar with the story, made it very hard to follow. In many places it was superfluous. The best way to build tension is slowly and quietly, not deafening the eardrums! Take, for example, the sunrise scene in "Laurence of Arabia", hardly any music used, but boy, how hot you soon felt!
It was especially hard for me, as I have hearing difficulties and do not always catch everything that is said.
The good point is that it seemed to follow the story quite well, which augers well for "Part 2".
