The previously unpublished sightings during the 1930's, is astounding in it's breadth, and, reportings; mostly over scandinavian countrys. The finger of suspicion was pointed at all the usual suspects of this troubled decade, but with aircraft development being still restricted, it simply made the mystery even deeper. I cannot reccomend this book enough, especially to devotees of the subject. think you've heard it all ? try this.

Given the fact, that this great 20 part series was written by the award winning Jon Finch, creator of ''A family at War''.I was astonished, that I hadn't heard of this excellent following series, first shown on TV in 1980--1. untill released on DVD in 2009? but only brought to my notice recently. although there is nearly a decade in time between them. I can only give a breif outline of the story, as I'm only on DVD disc 3, out of 5.. Beginning on V.E Day ,May 8th 1945, in defeated Germany, it follows the story of two north of England families, and their individual member situations, and how the war has affected them. With their classic apposing status, Upper and working class, there is much to expect, as they entangle, emotionally, and being set in early post war Britain, with the Atlee Labour government winning power, there is also much political discord among the two families too. Like ''Family at War'', the storyline ,charactorisation, and wonderful acting, has held me to 4 hour stints. A great storyline, set in a tulmultive era of social and political change. reccommended.

To think these men were volunteers, just a few of many, who disregarded their own survival, let alone ,fear of serious injury, and a slow painful death. In a modern world of relatively easy communication, the thought alone, of being as isolateed, as being on the Moon, creates fear enough for me. I guess they were men of their age and time. I read the book many years ago, and I can say that, it felt like I was with them, scary enough, even knowing they all survived. As they say these modern times, you could not make it up and yet, it all really happened. but what a world they all came back to, the total madness of a world war, which they had no notice of. surely one of mankinds craziest contradictions, the saving of 25 men in the greatest wilderness on earth, and deliberate Mass slaughter .
