So while I’ve never seen One Flew Over the Cookoos Nest, I read up about it prior to watching Ratched. My depiction from reading the plot was that Nurse Ratched was a cold, heartless, nurse who was awful to her patients. I went into this show assuming it would be a lot creepier, and that Mildred Ratched would be an awful, wretched person, but Ryan Murphy portrayed her just the opposite. She was very sweet, kind, and caring to her patients. While vindictive towards others in her life, I feel as though her intentions are mostly good and I feel as though if the adaptation were to be accurate, she would have needed to be more of a villain. However, the acting was superb. I love Ryan’s work, I’ll always recommend to watch it. I definitely enjoyed the first season. I do wish she was portrayed as a bitter nurse like I had imagined her but I wasn’t displeased. Hopeful for a second.
