This game was engaging, but not as fun as the original. In the first game, there were more puzzles mixed in with the story to keep you engaged. This one was roughly 98% story, with very little in the way of actual gameplay. Also, more so than with the original, I found the political messaging to be a little too heavy-handed.
For starters, the need to paint white conservatives and Trump supporters as evil racists just exposed the closed-minded ignorance of the game creators. No, not everyone who supports Donald Trump is a racist or a bigot, just like not every liberal is, say, a drugged-out hippie who can’t refrain from using profanity in every other sentence. While the overall story was compelling, the black-and-white caricatures of ordinary people in this game were just too over-the-top and insulting to the vast majority of us who don’t live in Seattle, LA or New York. Perhaps the game creators should try following in the footsteps of their heroes and stepping outside their bubble to see what life is like for people in other areas of the country. They might learn something.
