"IT" is the most epic form any horror can take. The book is absolutely massive, but its bulk is used to accomplish all its greatness. The characters are intricate, the descriptions of Derry's sewer systems, rivers and landmarks literally span across pages and pages of immaculately crafted writing, and the encounters are both bone chilling and intensely riveting. It's a far fetched tale of aliens that spans the cosmos and glorifies giant turtles, but the themes are too disturbingly real for you to forget the book once you've read its final pages. King interweaves the childhood and adulthood phases with masterful finesse, and i've yet to see character writing that's as emotive and multifaceted than it is in "IT". Bill, Richie, Bev, Eddie, Stan, Ben and Mike are formed out to the flesh, the final moments are heartwrenching and brutal. The book is mature, delving deep into themes of abuse and violent imagery, and it's not for the weak willed. It's a masterpiece, a bloody long and bloody brilliant masterpiece.
