What is with all the negative feedback about this movie? Sometimes you just need some escapist fun on movie night and this film fits the bill perfectly. Some action, some comedy, some intrigue, a good pace, some beautiful Malta locations, some excellent casting and a very beautiful Luna Fujimoto (chef’s kiss😘). This film doesn’t take itself too seriously and neither should you. If you are looking to just have a fun old time watching a movie, look no further.

How did I not know about this movie? It ain’t the French Connection, it ain’t Serpico and it ain’t Good Fellas. What it is, is a really solid NYC crime drama. Fantastic cast, decent story and plot line, convincing and realistic set and production design. The Director and Production Team did really well recreating 1974 NYC (as an example the scene at Grand Central Terminal had the commuter trains marked as Penn Central, historically accurate as the Metro North Railroad was not in existence yet. A detail only a true New Yorker would notice. With that out of the way let’s move on to the phenomenal casting and acting performances. I was never really a fan of Billy Crudup but I am now. He did a marvelous job portraying the protagonist and convincingly played the role of an NYPD Detective. Kudos to James Caan, Mila Kunis and Zoe Saldana for their strong performances. Clive Owen also does a very good job as the antagonist, a sociopathic criminal and killer. Honorable mention to the Musical Director for the fantastic soundtrack track selections. I highly recommend this solid, well acted movie.

What just happened? I never heard of this movie. Had no idea about the plot, the cast of actors and just happened to come upon it by chance searching for something to watch. Boy was I surprised. This movie was pretty damn good! Good storyline, good acting, good comedic moments, good family plot lines, good cinematography and good special effects. Ryan Reynolds proves once again that he can play the comedic role, the action role and the dramatic role, seamlessly transitioning between all three. I really don’t have a bad thing to say about this movie. If you are looking for a good movie to watch with your kids and family, you cannot go wrong with The Adam Project.
