((SPOILERS))
I loved the game! The flow of the story was veryyy different from the first. I was definitely upset about the way Joel was murdered. But I kept in mind that gorey-deaths like that happen in post-apocalyptic worlds, like the Walking Dead comics. For majority of the game, I felt no sympathy for Abby. I didnโt mind playing her, but I wanted to play Ellie specifically. I didnโt feel bad for Abby losing everyone she loves, because she killed Joel. However! Ellie leaving her family for revenge was selfish, and it made me dislike her a bit. Then, we she found Abby, skinny and beaten and tied to a pillar left to die, I felt for Abby and appreciated her character growth and felt like she deserved a second chance. Joel did kill her father pretty crazy for selfish reason (to save Ellie and say F saving the world). And Ellie murdered the love of Abbyโs life. And eye for an eye. I thought Ellie deserved to go home to an empty house on some level, though I did feel for her when she played Joelโ song on the guitar, but couldnโt because her fingers got bitten off. Karma. Overall, I wish there wouldโve been more of Joel. I did appreciate the main female characters and the LGBTQ+/trans support. Itโs about time games are more realistic to humanity and diversity. Not everyone in the world is straight, so Iโm not sure why ever post-Apocalyptic game only has straight characters. Pretty sure walkers donโt specifically target gay/trans people. Plus, most games have main male characters. It was refreshing to see a female ensemble of characters who are effeminate. Women can be masculine without be gay or manly. Anyone triggered by these things is def a type of โphobic.โ Anyway, amazing game! Such a deep storyline. Naughty Dog is a hit machine !
