I know the movie hasn’t had great reviews from critics but I found the depiction of grief and moments of humor to be relatable, especially as it pertains to losing a child and the intricacies of stress that puts on a marriage.
The “Hollywood” moments others have spoke of are also depictions of what we do. Maybe we don’t check ourselves into a mental health facility-but plenty of people stifle grief until it emerges as something ugly and worse-and some people choose to end their lives. And while I doubt we are going to retired psychiatrists turned vets for counseling we surely avoid therapy and speak to those unable to guide our grief or worse no one at all.
Overall I felt the symbolism was well done. Just have to pull back from the movie for a moment.
