What can I say, I thought I'd have very little interest in the very niche topic of some Japanese mountain climbers and a watch in the 1960's, but the clear and easy to read story with photo heavy presentation made it surprisingly enjoyable.
The photos are plentiful and high quality.
Of course the unique point of the book is the information about the custom built SEIKO 6205 Silverwave watches used by the mountaineers on the expedition. These were custom made for the event and never offered to the public. I have no idea how Chris got one, but it's great to see it and what was different about them from the standard Silverwave watches.
The binding is excellent. It has a matte plasticised hard cover with endpapers and satin full colour pages. The crease is fairly large which means it doesn't break when you open it out. Printing quality is excellent with an insignificant amount of "dotting". Text is fairly large and easy to read.
Overall, "This is Gyachung" is a fantastic niche addition to your coffee table and reference book collection.
