I don't know what's up with people giving bad reviews. Just make sure you know about Godzilla pretty well (which should be the case as you go to watch it anyway), and make sure you have low expectations (key to like any movie). This in my opinion wasn't quite as original as the Godzilla(2014) but it brought back the soundtracks, original Godzilla roar, many old creature, old weapons, old characters and similarities. And many moments that I didn't expect to grab my heart. Action packed, entertaining, and had a ending that met my satisfaction more. Remember, to have low expectations.
