I just arrived home after watching Bohemian Rhapsody with my wife. As a huge Queen fan, I’m very much satisfied with almost every aspect of the movie. Rami’ acting was beyond compare, fantastic, he was real Freddie, he should be nominated for an Oscar. As Rami said, he did not just want to mimic Freddie, he wanted to know why he did what he did. Rami worked very hard, resulting in almost genuine Freddie’s extravagant gesture and style and even the flick of the microphone. The movie tells about a rock band whose members supported each other despite struggling to accept and compromise with everyone’s shortcoming, which is just human at the end of the day. It tells about gifted talents combined with hardwork of young men who made it to the top of the world as best entertainers ever. It tells about the beauty of their music and song, their arguments reflecting their love-hate relations, sad and funny moments, and Freddie’s clashing identities as they unstoppably rised up to the very top. Happiness, achivement, sadness, tragedy, all in one. The 1985 live aid scene was phenomenal, I felt as if I were there at the concert. And really, my wife and I sat until the very end, enjoying Don’t Stop Me Now and few more legendary songs as the movie was reaching towards the end. The song itself, Bohemian Rhapsody illustrates deep respect towards a mother (Mama ooh ooh), yes it tells about love, failure, death, loneliness and inferiority (perhaps as a migrant child), and also perseverence (when coming to the heavy rock section, perhaps telling about strong will to confront challenges in life), and, oddly, seems to also forecast Freddie’s own colourful but tragic life. Surely the movie has flaws here and there, like Rami’s superior acting and performance seem to override others. The movie appears to move too fast as it tried to cover everything, which is impossible indeed. Nevertheless, personally speaking it is the best movie of the year, one that I would recommend to everyone and that I would watch it over and over again. Bravo!!
