I watched the show after watching the entire sex and the city franchise for Darren Star. I must say I did watch all the episodes because I started it. I find the central character of the film very appalling - Emily. Emily is really immature and doesn't have her values straight. In fact, I think she doesn't even have any core values. She has no patience to listen and always thinks she knows what's best. It's implied in the show that she is all about work and enjoys her work. But her work seems very non-work. She rarely brainstorms, all her ideas come in a moment of fluke. She somehow manages to make some good friends, and it always seems that the other person takes interest in her rather than her taking interest in the other person except her boss, which is shown as her need to be liked by everyone. She is shown to triumph in every situation often pulling out favors, especially from her love interest, the chef. I have no idea why the chef even likes her. When he makes that dish so beautifully she doesn't even have the courtesy to eat or savor it. She has a notion of what is right and wrong and even tries to impose her notions on her friends. For example, in the scene when Camille wants to make out with the guy she meets in Saint Tropez, she continuously tries to "control" her. She is extremely judgemental and annoyingly cheerful at all times. Her photos are extremely bad in every sense and I am sorry but she is really dumb in just about every damn scene. She is extremely straightforward with not even an ounce of poetry. Also, we know nothing about Emily's life in Chicago except that she had a boyfriend. She has no backstory. We don't have any clue what is her relationship with her parents, her life before Paris, or anything from her childhood. She doesn't have any hobbies except Instagram which is painful to watch. All in all, I felt Emily was a very shallow character. In fact, I will say the other supporting characters are deeper than the central character whom we have to painfully accompany throughout the series. If you already haven't watched Emily in Paris, save yourself some time and don't.
