I havent read the book yet but I definetely plan to as Im very intrigued by this whole case. Its weird because when we think of a young women and young teenage girls getting murdered we dont think of somebody who is a friend of that person or has a close relationship with that person as being a likely suspect or as someone who would really even have a thought like that cross the mind its that not usually the norm and reality this is our society. But I guess the lesson we can hopefully learn from this case is evil comes in all shapes and sizes and even if you think you know someone really well you really don't. I am just a year younger than Skylar and while I think we all including myself know how mean, jealous, and vindictive girls can be this case takes that to a whole new level. Yes friends have fights especially female friends and yes sometimes friendships end but they don't usually end in murder. Alot of us don't think that something like this can happen but it can luckily its very rare that it does happen but it can. I think this case provides a valuable lesson to both parents and kids is to know who your friends are and know them well. But I think even that is sometimes hard to do because people can put on acts but I think there are signs to look for. I really feel for Skylars parents Dave and Mary Neese I think its absolutely heartbreaking that they lost their daughter to two people that they thought they knew and thought they could trust and thought their daughters knew their daughter friends, I definetely think the friendship problems that developed early on between Skylar, Shelia, and Rachel were warning signs and is ultimately what led up to this tragedy because they obviously progressively got worse overtime. Im sure looking back on it Dave and Mary wish they were more involved and knew more about Rachel and Shelia. But again people can be decieving especially a person like Shelia dont get me wrong I think Rachel even though she did apologize wether or not her apology was sincerely remorseful is obviously up for debate, was just as evil as Shelia. I know everyone says that Shelia was the mastermind behind this and I think for the most part she was but I think Rachel played a bigger role than most people think. Its interesting how Rachel was portrayed initially as this sweet church girl who came from this church family and was really religious and all of that, but the minute she came into the picture thats when all the friendship problems between the three girls started. I dont know I just find that odd and even though I think Shelia is definetely the more evil and bigger psychopath of the two I don't think Rachel is necessarily as innocent as some people like to say or think she is. I know people want to say she was just led astray by Shelia and to a extent thats probably true, but I actually think Rachel was jealous of how initally close Shelia and Skylar were and I think she actually maybe planted the seed so to speak that started all the problems in the friendship between the three of them and from there it just escalated and ultimately led to them wanting to murder Skylar. Thats just my personal theory on it. But yea I definetely want to get this book and read it because Im sure it goes into alot more detail about this whole case. I almost wish it was available online to read for free but I guess its worth buying.
