I read the book twice and fell in love with it. Naturally, I was pumped to watch the movie. I was, however, disappointed in it. The movie did not include many of the integral parts and conversations that the book had that would make the movie make more sense or come even more alive. The only part that actually included God was in the beginning and in the end. Had I not read the book , I would have been so confused and lost because the movie did not explain things like why she left or how love was redeemed for her. I would watch the movie again just because I love the story so much but I was irritated for much of the second half of the movie. I would agree with those who said the movie wasn’t Christian enough. I came into the movie thinking there would be someone voicing God as in the book, God was guiding both main characters. Though it did not follow the book, I loved the movie for the story and how it portrayed the loved that Michael has for Angel as he never once judged her for who she was.
