As a die hard fan of the Hardy Boys, I was excited to finally have an adaptation beyond the 1970’s cover of the books (starring Shaun Cassidy).
I was skeptical at first to find Joe about 5 years too young and Biff portrayed as a girl among other changes that I won’t spoil here.
But the show managed to suck me in and proved itself to be an amazing adaptation. The mystery was full of intrigue and unexpected turns. The brotherhood between Frank and Joe mirrored the loyalty in the original books. It was a delight to see Bridgeport and all of it’s characters come to life and a relief to find they didn’t attempt to modernize the setting.
I ended up binging the full series in about three sittings because each episode left on cliff hangers I couldn’t walk away from.
I would love to have a season two.
