I am a huge horror genre fan, and I try to stay on top of shows and movies with great horror potential. Slasher is not one of them. Seasons one and two are mediocre (poor acting and filled with a lot of horror tropes), but if you’re looking for something gory and moderately entertaining, they’re fine enough. Season 3, however, was nearly unwatchable. It has all of the poor acting and tropes of the previous two seasons, but it has fallen prey to the same fate as American Horror Story in trying so hard to be edgy that it ends up simply being obnoxious. It pretends to be socially conscious, but it’s clear the writers know very little about social issues re: racism, Islamophobia, etc., so the attempt to appear woke just comes off as laughable. I found the attempted suicide scene in season 3 episode 4 to be particularly irresponsible. So, whether the show ends up being cancelled after Season 3 or not, I’m done with it.
