I am.a movie geek but I hardly enjoyed any part of the film. It has no connection to history. Rome is only a background to a semi-entertaining videogame. Very bleak performances from the actors, except Denzel Washington. Loads of cheap moralizing messages. The protagonist keeps talking about freedom and then happily accepts to be the new emperor. Seriously? Are we all so dumb? Waste of time if you are older than 30.

A good action film that unfortunately lacks any real depth. Though it does give some hints about the historical background that may generate some interest on the part of those who know very little about WWII. It is entertaining, you will not feel the need to pause and make some coffee.

Interesting characters, but loose ends in storylines. Much remains unexplained to such an extent that it is difficult to understand real causes behind events. On the other hand certain things are overexplained. Too much violence that turns into the parody of itself, almost like in a Tarantino movie. Bit of a shame...the original plot was promising.
