Intriguing setup, themes, and acting...let down by bloated "dialogue" (really monologues with other characters nodding along for 90% of the show), plot holes, and mediocre special effects with respect to creature horror. I would give 4 stars had the long-winded speeches been condensed by 50% (we get the message in the first 2 sentences each time). Without spoilers, I'll say that the rules for what happens in the final 2 episodes could have been clarified better, as some aspects seemed inconsistent. Furthermore, many characters had potential to be extremely complex, compelling people but quickly succumbed to their demons without much resistance or didn't develop their background enough (the Mayor is a prime example). Still worth a watch, but this show could have been so much more
