The plot is meaningless. What purpose does dramatising the wakefulness of the bioform serve apart from making the movie on the chosen scientific questions? It would have been more interesting to extend the drama to the challenges of working with advanced AI, cloning, memory transfer, consciousness, inter-galatic travel and colonization of alien planets. The conflicts in the movie make no sense. There is no rationale for the voices on the other end of the line being deceptive and antagonistic when the damage to the pods is due to a collision with an asteroid for example.
