I've watched The Cook of Castamar several times, and can't get over the sheer physical beauty of the series! The production quality is awesome, and the storyline and plot are riveting. Meeting wonderful actors outside the realm of English speaking film & drama is a real treat. I've yet to read the novel, but the attention to detail seen throughout the entire production can only compliment this endeslessly interesting narrative.

Well done. Realistic approach to psychology.

Loved the entire series, and looked forward to each weekly episode! I understand that approaces to historical material must be made relevant/appealing to contemporary audiences, & for this series, I felt that the 'wokeness' was well handled. 'Woke' is sometimes overdone/overplayed, unfortunately missing the historical facts. Victorian England was indeed a challenging time for women, & Eliza's persistence, in my view, spoke to the contemporary viewer as well as to all. Thank you, & hoping for a Season 2.

I've watched Masterpiece for many, many years. I stuck with Hotel Portofino expecting to see forward plot movement, character development, etc., but it just didn't happen. Throwing current political memes into former historical eras becomes awkward - unrelated to the story line. I often use our local public TV streaming service to re-watch the Masterpiece productions, but have no desire to do so for this one.
