Overall, I enjoyed the movie. The cons: huge departure from the book. I can understand modernizing it but changing the whole family structure, leaving out the twins? Also, they completely changed the journey to Camazotz and pretty much everything after that went out the window and it was like a whole different story. I really wanted to see Aunt Beast. That being said, the pros: awesome cast and a very fresh take on the movie. The original dialogue wouldn’t have worked, it’s over 50 years old. I LOVE how they nailed the family, how brilliant they are are and how much they love each other. And I have to say I cried when I saw my beloved Uriel brought to life. I think Madeline L’Engle would have liked it. Through all her works, she struck me as very open minded and progressive. At the end of the day the message is exactly the same, everyone who loves is a warrior for the light, no matter how big or small.
