Madison Steele

I know this is meant to be for little kids and all, but watching this movie made me want to off myself. There were no redeemable moments. Flat dialogue, confusing character motives, absolutely no chemistry. The entire thing was a poorly disguised social commentary that tried to tackle too much at once and ended up being kinda homophobic (Bucky being literally every bad gay stereotype on top of the villain). I honestly couldn’t tell if they were being goofy ironically or unironically, but it was painful. Good choreography, though, gotta hand it to the background dancers.

Thematically, allover the place and thus wasn't able to get as deep as I think the film would've liked. The story is average, character design will get some getting used to, but this is by far the prettiest movie I've ever watched. The lighting was perfect, camera work was unique and awesome, the voice acting really carried the movie and I loved how at the very foundation of the movie was a celebration of cuban and spanish music. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, my expectations were exceeded. I won't call it Oscar worthy, but it's still a great watch if you just want some fun music and don't want to think too hard about anything. Sony Animation has come a looooong way from Smurfs, and I'm enjoying ever new movie they put out.

If you're an evolutionist, the argument this movie uses to prove god and creationism is real is so terrible that you'll just feel reaffirmed about your opinions. As a creationist, you'll feel your opinion reaffirmed with terrible acting, a predictable plot, and a barely concealed propaganda film for creationists. As for the film trying to convince me that evolution just never happened, it sucked. So if you want to be convinced from the evolution side to the creation side, don't watch this movie.
