People of the Earth. This show is a GEM! Mkay. First of all. Please know that anyone who says they read this book...couldn't possibly have because this show is a parody of all books titled in this manner.
This is a dark comedy. COMEDY. So be forewarned, because it is a VERY GOOD murder mystery. Just when you forget it's meant to be a comedy, something absolutely ridiculous happens and you are reminded.
There is GOLD here, matey! Mkay. But you have to pay attention. From the three books the protagonist has written, hilariously titled, "You can be an artist," "You Too Can Be an Artist," and, "You Also can be an Artist" -- how friggin' funny is THAT -- to the handyman who, the entire show, serves absolutely no purpose in life or the story except to be there, day after day after day, fixing the mailbox.
The jokes are so subtle and yet so on point. They're in the details, right down to the book the protagonist reads every day called, "The Woman Across the Lake."
Aside from good writing and witticism in the jokes, there is good acting here as well and you will be hooked from Episode 1. I wish I could tell you what happens in the last two episodes, but there are no spoilers here, sirs and madams. What I CAN tell you is that -- your mind will be blown.
I have a new respect for Kristen Bell.
