This is a very sad film and extremely frightening. Whilst it is a horror film by its end the viewer has been immersed in the experience of the African refugees who not only have to survive war and atrocities but who bring their ghosts with them to their adopted countries to haunt them with their terrible past life even in run down council houses.

Sophia Copolla started a whole new genre with Marie Antoinette and the seeds sown are producing many television period series . The latest is chanel four's ' The Great' an enjoyable romp through some odd version of Russian history. The two leads are excellent. Nicholas Hoult goes from strength to strength.

Ethan Hawke is terrific as usual, and Tesla is an interesting subject. However the film is a little uneven and a bit 'off the wall' at times. Particularly the strange night club version of 'Every body wants to rule the world
.
