Despite not having Nathan Drake, this is a strong, albeit short, addition to the Uncharted series. It is an action packed high octane adventure featuring supporting characters Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross. The writers have done a brilliant job in flashing out these two characters and by the end of the game, I really find them to be really engaging and wished that I could spend more time with them. Action set pieces are palm sweatingly elaborate as expected from an Uncharted game. But the main star is the beautiful art design. Set in India, this adventure is breathtakingly beautiful. The only gripe I have with this game is its length (which I felt is similar to the first Uncharted) but it was never intended as a full length game.

4 episodes in and this is by far the best "new" Star Trek series! It faithfully captures the excitement, wonder and hope of the original series in a new slick modern packaging that will resonate with modern audiences. What made me a fan of "old" Star Trek was the series' uncompromising sense of hope, that the collective whole can overcome any challenges that may seem insurmountable at first glance. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds brought back all of this to me. Unfortunately, this show won't calm the nerves of critics who are obsessed with identity politics. I am tired of how the binary woke/unwoke arguments have entered into our discourse. I really do feel sorry for how hard the brains of these sort of critics have to work in order to find offence with this series. If you are like me who hated Star Trek: Discovery for being preachy and Picard for being too banal, you would absolutely love this. Don't be prejudicial and give this series a try, you'll enjoy it!

Long, slow and forgettable zombie flick that tries to do too much and accomplished so little. Started well with a promising premise (what if Las Vegas was overtaken by zombies?) which evolved to a comedy/heist plot where a gang of misfits must break into a hotel to retrieve a large sum of money before the government nukes the place up.

Masterpiece of story telling and engrossing gameplay with a deep moral message. A series of events forced Ellie to hunt down a group of survivors who have turned her life upside down. Together with Dina, they traversed through the ruined city of Seattle killing humans and the undead until a pivotal moment which flipped the game on its head. As you continue playing, you begin to question the motivations and methods of the characters that you have come to know and love. This game is so deep and nuanced that it is really is a shining showcase of how video games can be a powerful story telling medium. Worth every second.

One made for the fans. Frantic, breath taking, no pauses in between and full of forward motion. Binds the new sequels to the originals through some crafty (but plausible) ret-conning but boy, what a ride! If you are a casual fan, get ready for lumps in throat, WTFs and hell yeah moments. If you are a casual movie goer, you’ll be in for a great roller coaster ride and wonder why your neighbors in silly costumes are seated on the edges of their seats and pumping their fists in the air. And for the haters, well, if you really hated Last Jedi, you’ll probably really hate this one too (but I sense the conflict in you....)

Wasted opportunity to make a great X-Men film. Everything seems out of place with this movie. The actors tried valiantly to bring life to a messy script but even they can't rescue a poorly written adaptation of a great X-Men comic story arc. The movie is set in the 80s after the event of the last film (though you can hardly feel the period at all). Jean Grey absorbed a powerful alien force while saving her fellow mutants in space during a rescue mission. She gradually becomes Dark Phoenix and everyone is racing to either save, incarcerate or kill her. That's basically the movie. In 2 sentences.

I honestly didn’t expect Roma to be so good. Having read about the number of nominations (as well as the fact that the film was shot in Black and White), I expected an “arty-farty” self-serving pretentious film from Alfonso Cuarón who had gotten (well deserved) kudos for the breakout Clooney-Bullock film, Gravity. Boy, was I ever so wrong! Roma is an emotional and poignant movie about Cleo (played very believably by Yalitza Aparicio), a maid working in an upper middle class Mexican home in the early 70’s against the backdrop of social upheaval. We see life through her innocent eyes as she navigates through the day picking up after the four children in the household, doing the laundry, serving food and washing the dog poo laden garage floor tiles. The movie has been described as “achingly” beautiful and I understand why now. This is a movie with an abundance of heart and honesty. Of course, the movie features a talented cast who did a wonderful job of non-acting acting that gives this movie such a raw and natural feel to it. Alfonso Cuarón’s direction and photography melds so well together that this movie flows organically with not a single frame of waste to it. A critical and technical masterpiece not to be missed.
