This is NO Justice League title; this is Justice League DARK! So buckle up, this one gets gritty in the first 5 minutes and never gets brighter.
The Justice League has encountered Darkseid, the dark god of Apokolips twice in the last handful of years, and it is time to take the fight to him. It's all hands on deck and the stakes have never been higher. Only, Darkseid knows that they are coming...
From start to finish, this one is dark, gritty, and even uncomfortable. It certainly earns it's R rating. Fans of the DC Animated Universe are sure to want to see this conclusion the the collection, bringing everything from Flashpoint Paradox and onward to a close. The stakes are intense, even to the point of a crisis-level comic event. Fans of the gold and silver-era of comics however may wish to give this film a miss, as this movie is wholly bereft of the light and hope that has marked the classic comic ethos of old.
Justice League Dark: The Apokolips War bares little resemblance to it's New 52 comic namesake, but does embody its desperate nature...and then some. If you are a fan of the series thus far and wish to see the conclusion; if you are a fan of dark DC comic films and love the gritty and jagged edges that some of the recent animated films have taken on, give this one a watch. But make sure you see it before the kids do. I don't think this one is for them...
