The Powell’s

This show is a mess. It stereotypes and then steers the audience to root for a particular race and economic status. Terrible, mean, rich white people getting abortions, stealing babies, hating on lesbians, suppressing other races and making fun of the poor. The blacks in the show do questionable things, but they’re all for a good reason. Not so for the whites. It doesn’t address economically disadvantaged whites or Hispanics. There is a poor Asian girl which doesn’t make much sense, since most Asians come to America, do very well for themselves and don’t complain. It does touch on rich black people, but even they’re suppressed and unhappy in this show. This show is very clearly white vs black and the whites are all bad. There is not one white person in the show that is shown as doing good. Even the little lesbian white girl who is also being suppressed by her mean rich white momma, has tried to joined her fellows suppressed, disadvantaged humans, but is told she was born into the mean, white, rich community and that is her legacy. There is also a white girl dating a black guy. She says she doesn’t see color, which is what has been preached for years now...”if no one saw color and embraced everyone as fellow humans the world would be a better place”...well in this show that is now a bad thing. The black guy is complaining that the white girl only likes him for who he is and not his color. Geez. Also, did you know that referring to a black person as “they or them” is now a no-no?? It means you’re referring to their race and their race as a whole, not just that one person. But referring to a white person in this manner does not apply. Ridiculous!! This show emphasizes the extremes we have gone to in order to keep from offending certain races and shows that there are clearly people out there, specifically Hollywood, desperately trying to keep the race thing between whites and blacks (and all other races) alive. Or they’re just the Hollywood “do gooders” that need to “look like” they’re out there doing some good. There are so many other ways to do good for our fellow humans, so many that really need help, but keeping this race thing alive is not one of them. The percentage of people that just want everyone to get along, love one another and “don’t see color”, far out weigh those that have hatred in their hearts for others.
