Hard to believe 29 years have passed since the release of the movie “Philadelphia.” Excellent cast of actors and actresses, combined with a poignant story that unfortunately contained an accurate reflection of prejudice and homophobia that still exists three decades later, makes this film worthwhile to watch on multiple occasions.

This film was enjoyable and well done. Perhaps could be defined as a somewhat dark comedy. Why the negative reviews? Perhaps because the plot and ending are, GULP, realistic?! Because it didn’t have any totally ridiculous moments? That the marital dialogue was exactly what you’d expect in a story like this? No violence? No blatant sex? Oh, the HORROR! Bottom line, I would see if again AND recommend it.
