Acting: 5/5 Story: 3.5/5 Script: 3/5 Direction: 2/5 Cinematography: 3.5/5 Overall 3/5 Went in not knowing anything about the movie. As a fan of a horror and an old time fan of dakota fanning who i always thought was a brilliant actress in her youth, the movie was somewhat let down by a convoluted mishmash of ideas and a lack of commitment to the atmosphere as a whole. The premise was definitely there, the mythology is one thats been done and tested and nothing wrong with it, the acting was perfectly fine, the story just felt linear with the final act really unnecessary and what could have been at atmospheric creep fest became somewhat more of a drama creature feature which ended up as a dissapointment due to lack of emotional impact (in this case fear) a shyamalan family trait I guess. Still a perfectly fine movie and I enjoyed y for what it was, just not something ill rewatch if I have a choice

Really wanted to like this one, the only reason it gets 3 instead of 2 is cause horror fans are no strangers to how bad a film can be and still enjoy it. Objectively it probably deserves 2.5. The premise was promising, the monsters and deaths fantastic, the acting ok enough. What really let it down was the script writer. Horror characters arent known for being smart but these guys do complete 180s in their personalities, decisions and things they know from 1 scene to the next just for convenience of making them go to where the movie wants it to go with absolutely zero reasoning. WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD Paxton goes from a believer and wanting to so the best decision to just deciding screw it, hes takin over grants role and not going to bother with going against the readings, then you have alma litterally telling the main character what shes planning to try and end it ..only to make it seem like she had some profound revelation as to how to beat the curse .. This could have been a great movie, just let down by the worst writing ive seen in a long time.. gave it more stars then it deserved but I can sit through a bad movie and enjoy it...the rating is more for everyone in general The cast did ok for what they were given, still hard to tell whether they were decent or not cause once again the dialogue was unnaturally forced. Everyone did well in making this movie, who ever came up with the idea and concepts also did a wonderful job...just the writer ..screw that guy

The influx of hollywoods obsession of requels have have been for a long while now been hit or miss. The all female reboot messed with the franchise only to be followed by the well recieved requel of the new ghostbusters. Frozen empire follows in spectacular fashion that once again highlights the new casts worthy succession of carrying the ghostbuster franchise, supported by the older original casts. Both films have maintained the original feel of the original franchise giving a much loved nostalgic feel. Story, acting, writing, and direction are fantastically put together for any fan of the films to enjoy.

If you know eli roths work, you'll understand what youre in for. Honestly i want to give it the half star it deserves...3 is a bit low but 4 is a bit much for what it is. The gore and kills are signature roth style which is always a blast to watch, the suspense, story, characters werent exactly a thought provoking A21 film that I know a lot of horror fans prefer these days but for a back to basics slasher it gets the job done. Actors and actresses did a great job with the material they were given. Again doesnt feel oscar winning but its more the fault of campy script writing than it is the skill of the talent...all to say that the campiness is what gives the film a bit more love than it probably deserves. Overall 3.5 out of 5. A solid holiday watch if you want to turn your brain off and just sit back with a beer and a human sized basted turkey

Id say the use of scares uses the same kind of tactics as the original paranormal activity. It has the creepiness of what could be real if the situation actually occured which sends a bit if a tingle down your spine. The actual scares and events id say are uncommon but recognizable which shows you the inspirations from the writer though it does lack a bit of originality. Honestly I really liked the movie and if anything dissapointed that there wasnt more of it, though I think that the 1 hour runtime actually made sure that they didnt pad the movie up for no reason. Writing 4/5 Acting 4/5 (thought the characters had a very natural cadence overall) Directing 5/5 Scare factor (3.5/5 if you want blood gore and jump scares) (4.5/5 if you appreciate a more creepy tone)

Its ok overall, violence made it a fun watch, lack lustre character development and quite frankly the protagonist, becky, is honestly unlikeable in my opinion. Shes immature and rebelious which is justified by her age and backstory but then those negatives are used to fuel the plot forward and give her, her strengths which in my opinion gave her no redeeming quality. She doesnt learn any specific lesson to be a better person and is just portrayed as a psycho. Honestly if you want a movie just for the fun of it its not bad. Just dont go in expecting to have your socks blown off. ****SPOILER WARNING ******* The only one with character development in this story was apex, and instead of giving it a well rounded ending they instead choose to just outright shoot him in the face. Again taking any likeability from becky herself.
