Review based on S1-4. Espionage/conspiracy plot generally suspenseful and gripping. Brody and Saul's characters, along with the support roles were a joy to watch. Damian Lewis' powerful portrayal brought a lot of depth to the story. I thought the writers could have capitalised on that more, so it's a pity that his character development felt a little rushed in the later episodes.
Claire Danes' performance was the main letdown of the show. What I initially thought was a convincing expression of someone battling bipolar disorder soon became an overdramatic, one dimensional act. Not sure if it's intended but Carrie became so predictable and the repetitive outbursts just painful to watch. Which leaves me wondering if that's any indication of a high-stakes clandestine operations director let alone intelligence chief in reality.
