I wanted to love this movie. It had brilliant actors (like one of my favorites, Ryan Reynolds). I usually love the director, and the trailer looked awesome. But! I can not stress enough how HORRIBLE and UNWATCHABLE this painful waste of time was. When the bad direction of too many extreme closeups and motion sickness inducing videography style was too much, I had hoped that there would be a story somewhere... anywhere... worth following. Sadly, there wasn't. No story, bad editing, and even worse directing. No one in my family nor friends at our watch party enjoyed any aspect of this neausiating cinematic disaster. Don't waste you time on this one.

This is the very best TV show that I have ever experienced - not just watched, but it was so brilliant on every level that I have to say it was a fully fledged experience for the entire family. I could not more highly recommend this TV series to anyone to watch with their family... or even alone. The directing, videography, writing and acting could not be more outstanding. I loved the books, but this version was even better - managing to surpass my already lofty expectations. It is now my favorite TV show and I hope that they continue to make more seasons (so far I have seen seasons 1 and 2). If you have not yet had the pleasure of seeing it, then my family and I give it our highest recommendation.

The brilliant actress, Katee Sackhoff, manages to surpass all of her other work in this excellent TV series. My family and I loved watching this together. The special effects, music choices, actors and many other aspects of this series were outstanding. The only complaints that we had as a family when watching was a few seriously flawed writing problems, which could have been caused by bad directors associated with the series... or even producers who were trying to push too much immaturity into characters who were supposed to be elite astronauts. Fpr example, sexual harassment and profound unprofessionalism are some of the key problems with some of the characters. I do not blame the actors though, because they all did a great job. One of the problems that leads me to believe the faults with the series lay not with the writers but with the directors of some of the episodes is occasional poor lighting choices. That said, I still recommend this to anyone who is looking for some great family entertainment that is full of action.

Tragically turned to garbage! Season 1 was OUTSTANDING! The writing, directing, research, plot weaving, acting... everything about it was brilliant. Then! Season 2 destroyed EVERYTHING positive and enjoyable about the entire series. Season two was so painful that suffering through the first episode was worse than enduring a week at GITMO being waterboarded three times a day. This is not the fault of the brilliant cast. They more than proved themselves via the first season and other projects in which they have been involved. But! The horrible director(s), incompetent editor(s) and lazy producers turned a masterpiece into a steaming pile which is so vile that is not even worthy of a cesspit. Please! Skip season 2 and ONLY focus on Season 1. It is better to have never seen any of part of the series than to endure the destruction of something that had so much potential to be iconic.

From irritating videography and directors who appear to get off on the pain suffered by the victims of the crimes, to outright LIES from psychologists who are way out of step with modern science... this series is NOT worth your time. For example, unnecessary displays of women bleeding and suffering presented in a way that looks like the directors/editors were sexually excited by seeing their gasping and writhing in a bloody mess on the floor was VERY offensive. Worse than the sexualization of the victims was the fact that we know specifics of the causes of psychopathy. Newsflash! It is NOT video game playing and exposure to porn - unlike the well debunked claims of the psychologists. Psychopathy is measured by the Psychopathy Scale (which is not even mentioned by the "psychologists" in the series). There are many disorders associated with being high on the psychopathy scale, and there is not any real debate anymore as to the causes - the "nature vs nurture" question, for example. EVERYONE who is high on the psychopathy scale is EVIL, no matter if they ever commit any crimes or not. Most of the time, such mentally ill folks are functioning members of society who never murder anyone... but they do in fact hurt people in many horrible ways. From Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder to Antisocial Personality Disorder, ALL of those monsters are pure evil to their core. As for the factor of childhood abuse, that is only a factor where it comes to making people worse when they are already born high on the Psychopathy Scale. An MRI and the Hare Psychopathy Checklist are excellent tools to see who is high on the Psychopathy Scale. For example, if a person is evil, then it will show on an MRI as the prefrontal cortex having the region for processing emotional empathy turned "off". You can literally see these monsters via an MRI. It does NOT matter if they engage in serial killing, the evil is still there... and toxic to everyone who has the misfortune of coming into contact with them. The series failed to cover any of those VERY important points and really appeared to focus on providing sexual excitement for psychopaths who might be watching the show. They also appeared to take pains not to offend that target audience. It is for those reasons that I gave this series a strong "Dislike"!

Pure joy to watch on every level! This is the most historically accurate period drama that I ever saw - and I have watched almost everything out there in this category. Historical accuracy is key to getting a positive review from me, because I despise it when writers/directors decide to lie for the sake of creating a tabloid version/"interesting" story. Facts should NEVER be sacrificed for the sake of any production, because the facts are always better than fiction. Besides outstanding research, writing and directing... the action and attention to period detail was also brilliant. The music was updated, which is perfectly acceptable, and the choices of the producers on that point was also quite pleasing. I highly recommend this movie for any family to enjoy together.
