This movie is an insult not only to romantic comedies, but to the very art of film-making. It is so incredibly by the numbers with out a single moment of daring or creativity. The actors have no chemistry and I honestly felt NOTHING between them through the whole film. It felt like it was more a vehicle to sell Celine Dion than anything else. I want to see the original German movie in hopes it will be a good romantic comedy, because this remake of it was a disaster. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

This movie is an insult to the craft of film-making. The direction is amateurish, the writing is childish and the characters barely deserve to be called 2-dimensional. This offense of movie is made all the more depressing now that I have since learned the plot points of the book it was based on and just how far they strayed from the tone and nature of the book. I mean.. in the book, the main character is a lady in waiting for the king's niece. I don't know why they did what they did to this book, but it should be considered a crime. I was embarassed for the cast who had to waste time on this disgrace.

It took real effort not to walk out on this pathetic excuse for a movie. The writing was childish, the acting embarrassing and even the effects looks bad. The poorly thought out story was set in a 1980's imagined by someone who has no idea what the 80s were like creating a 1980's look clearly based on NO RESEARCH at all about the 80's. I didn't even have to pay to see this movie, but I feel I am owed a refund. This film felt like it was just slapping me in the face and mocking me for being foolish enough to have bothered to watch it. Save yourself the time and money and just punch yourself really hard in the face. It'll be more enjoyable.

This movie is a genuine insult to the craft of movie making. The pathetic script fused with forgettable and disposable characters is sprinkled with poor creature design and uninspired effects. I saw the movie for free and felt I paid too much. Ugh.

This was a badly made movie. It wouldn't be strong as a made for TV movie... and it just is amateurish at best. The writing is simplistic and it's presentation is sophomoric. This felt like badly disguised propaganda. A waste of time.

This latest movie adaptation is likable, but massively toned down from the source material.

Such a waste of potential. A messy failure of a film that could have been so much better.
