I enjoy this series for the great writing (plot and dialog) and the chemistry of the characters. Mary McCormack is a crochety, no-nonsense woman with Judge Judy's nose for deception, who shows surprise bursts of understanding and sympathy for her charges. She is highly protective of the federal witnesses, her messed-up family, and her few friends. I disagree with the series summary calling Mary "sexy'"--that is deceptive and inappropriate.
I especially appreciate the role-reversal twist of Mary's supportive and empathetic MALE partner, Marshall the Marshal (humor). Again, I disagree with the summary claim that he is inadequate. He is excellent in directing and protecting his charges plus he handles his difficult partner with understanding and finesse. The supporting cast and guest actors all are excellent.
The plots and the dialogs are interesting and different; the writers portray danger without unnecessary car chases and gunfire. They also are expert in using humor to temper the drama. I am a tough grader: I rate this series B+. (Compare The Closer at A+.)
