Based on the novel Splendid Stars, it is an original view on ancient times. The cast is perfectly chosen, the cinematography is outstanding, and the plot is engaging : from ( well done) comedic moments, to broken families, war scenes to love scenes, villain princesses, witty consort, village granny, etc. The ML and FL are unconventional too: both are cunning, secretive, rude, revengeful - not your usual romance - both are learning to love, since none of them experienced it before.The FL will get engaged three times, while the ML will hold on to his feeling. There are no cringy moments, the acting is so smooth that it really gets you immersed in this show. Director Fei prepared for over a year before starting filming, and you can see it in every small detail. Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi, ML and FL on screen, give their best performances to date, and their acting is flawless, especially considering they are in their early 20's. Don't miss this show, it's epic !

Very good drama - script, director, cinematography, OST, cast - except the main couple had the chemistry of brother and sister. Both male and female actors are dry and imposing, good performance, but no sparks - in contrast with second couple who is showing evolution and warmth.

A fine Chine drama, nice saga in the martial world combined with political ploting. Good cast and convincing performances, though a bit theatrical at times - but this is the charm of wuxia.. On Netdlix is still episode 12, so I am following it online because I am too impatient - that just shows how much I enjoy it ! Not at the level of Nirvana in Fire, which has 5 stars for me - but certainly a 4 star - recommended !

Nice noona romance ( 20 years difference), beautiful classic piano music, convincing chemistry between the leads. Not happy with the 10 years sentence / though may be diminished..

Good cinematography, but no passion, no real feelings of any kind are convincing enough to get you involved with the charcters. All is cold - even when shouting, fighting or loving - all is surface with no depth. And it takes too long to reach that conclusion..

It reminds me of Eyes of Dawn, covering a heartbreaking period in Korean history - but the older series are more raw, bringing painfull memories in an unforgettable story..

Thriller revenge story, of love and betrayal. The one and only character who was true to his love was Seo Woo Jae, who gets killed. A sad ending drama, beautiful script, would have benefit from a better OST.
