What a way to ruin Batman for me! I have loved the story since I was a kid collecting the comics. The Detective series were my favourites. I love Chris Nolan’s version… well the first two, Bane got on my nerves. I loved the 1989 Keaton movie. Can’t say I loved Schumachers… The Batman is a terrible movie. Kitch and cliched, at best, a reasonable film noir but there is nothing new, no substance. Patterson is the emo whiny sad boy with that extremely annoying fringe in his face that drives me crazy… and I loved Lee’s The Crow but the dripping fringe does not work with Bruce Wayne. The plot was shallow and the acting mid at best. I hate being treated like an idiot by film makers but I am guessing their target audience was 12 year old boys. As you can see, I only review if I either truly love something or I am extremely disappointed. This Batman version is the latter. Edit… I wrote the above halfway through… it got worse!

One of the best shows I have ever watched. Smart, interesting, connected, fantastic acting, cinematography and atmospheric. I am going to have to watch it again.

Bored and trolling through Stan I randomly selected this film. I didn’t realise when I pressed play that it was Australian let alone set in Brisbane - I thought wait is that the Story Bridge!?! Recognising the town I grew up in made me keep watching. I am a fan of Australian film and I thought this was fun and harmless and a bit odd. I since ‘Googled’ it and saw one of the actors is a drama teacher in Brisbane and the director graduated from the same Art school I attended. Nice little connections and trivia. Don’t take it seriously as it does not and you will enjoy it; especially if you are familiar with ‘Brisvegas’!

I have read a lot of bad reviews about this series… sadly. I love its awkwardness due to its niceness. It is not pretending to be a big epic blockbuster. It is a heartwarming little story about how we should all try being a little nicer, more respectful and more tolerant of each other. It uses ‘god’ and an epic battle in heaven as the precursor of events but that is not really what it is all about. You can be nice and stay true to yourself despite the awful, crazy and hard things that can happen around you. Clark is just a nice, honest person in an office job that is tolerable due to the nice people around him. If we were all a little bit more ‘Clark’ in our day to day dealings with each other… life would be pretty darn good 😊.

A friend asked “did I like it” and I replied, “I think so”. I am not sure you can ‘like’ this series as it is too close to home with the pandemic, sad, disturbing and confronting. However, it is also moving, poignant, strange and beautiful. The setting is odd and ‘the lake’ is a big part as the troupe circle year in and out. There are so many themes about the human condition; survival, routine, loneliness, belonging, sense of responsibility, creativity, greed, pride… I think you just have to watch it and decide. Not a favourite but I am glad I watched it and now want to read the book. I like how the ideals in the graphic novel reflects the story and connects characters,To the monsters we are the monsters…

I’m not sure why the other reviewers said there were holes in this mini series. I think it was all wrapped up like a neat little burrito. I love Australian Film and TV. They are weird and quirky and not as clichéd as a lot of Hollywood stuff can be. I thought the setting was amazing and the acting brilliant. Was so great to see ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ in such a role. He was intense! I did agree that it was very Fargo-esk and it reminded me a lot of another great Aussie film, Two Hands. A refreshing change from all those series out there that keep going for the money rather than the story telling; losing the idea by season 3! Give it a go, only 6 episodes. Knock em down like a dirty martini 🍸

A LOT of holes. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Everything is over complicated... the Star Wars I grew up with was simply beautiful. I guess I’ll just go back to watching the originals and, like the prequels, pretend there were no sequels. Sigh.
