It is such an uplifting and fun show to watch, and I think it deserves every bit of clout and attention it gets. It is such a good way to help so many hard working drag queens get publicity, and make a name for themselves, giving them jobs in the future. This ends up benefiting the lgbtq+ community because the rates of of unemployment among the lgbtq+ community is significant. Only because it is harder for members of the community who present obviously as gay, lesbian, trans, etc. to get jobs in general. It makes drag bigger giving big and small drag queens more opportunities for jobs. This show also uplifts the voices of the lgbtq+ people and helps so many queer people feel more comfortable in their skin as well as provide good entertainment. I've seen some reviews complaining about the episodes promoting going out and voting as well talking about their personal beliefs on politics. I think it's ridiculous that people are mad just because the queens on the show have differing views from them and expressed a distaste for conservatives. Well I don't understand how someone could logically think that members of the lgbtq+ community would be too fond of conservatives, when MOST of the conservative party support Trump, a racist, homophobic, sexist, and misogynistic leader. Not to mention the amount of conservatives that use religion as an excuse to be nothing but hateful to the community as well as attempt to take rights away from the lgbtq+ community. I also came across a review comparing the judging from former seasons to the season that's currently going on, season 13. Obviously drag as an art form is going to change and morph as time goes on, as will the judges and what they chose to be picky about. Saying that it's unfair that Joey Jay got sent home for not wanting to wear a wig is just incorrect. Drag is about artistry, fashion, design, and detail, as well as performance and personality. When you don't wear a wig that's just an easy way out of having to deal with all of the styling, coloring, and putting on of a good wig. In my opinion that is a HUGE part of the art of drag. Joey was obviously eliminated for lots of other things regardless of wether she had a wig or not. Ok, and finally one of the worst reviews I saw said that the judges should have been harder on Gottmik about using her boy body. The reasoning for this review is that other queens have received heavy criticism for using their boy bodies. Like I have already brought up drag has changed significantly and will continue to change but drag really isn't so much about being a woman, it's more like your interpretation of the artistry, embracing being a man dressing up as a woman, detail, and design. Gottmik has killed every single runway and always has perfect hair and makeup, as well as put so much thought and effort into the art and design of her looks and drag, which explains all of the wins she has had. Gottmik's drag is her own by showing that she's trans and she's proud, not taking away a key part of drag like a wig, like Joey Jay did.
